Travel And Work As A Photographer
''A picture is worth a thousand words'', a saying that photographers have used since the camera was invented. Pictures elicit intellectual stimulation and emotion which is why they are used in advertising, publicity, marketing and education. Photography is such a wide niche and covers a vast area but the most popular niche would have to be travel photography. Not really a big surprise as jobs can consist of travelling to breath taking sceneries across the globe like Kilimanjaro or Table Mountain in South Africa for months at a time doing what you enjoy.
As you can imagine, you have to be exceptionally skilled and great at marketing to be able to get a job in this field. Alongside this new photographers have to pay for all of their equipment as well as their travel across the globe which certainly isn’t cheap. All it takes is one great shot on perhaps one of your Zambia holidays, that sells and you will quickly find that business begins to flood your way. To begin your career you will firstly need to build up a portfolio of your pictures to show off to potential employers and other interested parties. It's best if you can get a diverse range of pictures from wildlife shots on a Tanzania safari to people shots. This shows your range of photographic skills and your diversity of knowledge.
Once you have a collection of you best pictures the best place to show them off would have to be the internet. If you own a blog or website then these are the best places to upload your photos, if not there are lots more dedicated sites on the internet such a Flickr who host them for you to be viewed by people all over the world. You will also find there are lots of sites on the internet that sell stock images. If your photos are good enough they will be posted through one of these specialist websites and community members will sign up and download your images for a fee. Some people even make a living out of this.
