Why do people call the Muslim prayer robes Senator Obama wore 'traditional African dress'?

The photograph of Senator Obama in typical garb for the visit to the Mosque does not show the Senator in 'African traditional clothes'. Nothing of what the Senator is wearing is typically Kenyan tribal but it is Kenyan Islamic. Check out the above link for further details on the story.
As to who sent the photograph to the media, my money is on one of Senator Obama's Kenyan Muslim relatives who are very proud of him and would want the world to see how much he values their religion and traditions.

Thats like calling the tshirt and jeans I have on, "tradional American Christian Dress", not ALL clothing has anything to do with religion, in fact a LOT doesn't.
